Kenyan hotel owner shows untouched pilau, chapati, matoke and meat after alleged customer boycott over Ruto two-term support.Kenyan Hotel Owner Counts Losses After ‘Two-Term’ Remark in Support of Ruto
A Kenyan hotel owner is counting losses after claiming that customers rejected her food following her use of the phrase “two-term” in support of President William Ruto.
The woman was left with piles of untouched food, including pilau, chapati, matoke and cooked meat, as she wondered what to do with the meals she had prepared for her customers.
In a video circulating online, the distressed businesswoman showed empty seats inside her hotel, with the food still waiting to be served.
She questioned whether Kenyans still had the freedom to express their views without facing consequences.
“Kwani hii Kenya mtu hana uhuru wa kuongea, yaani mimi kusema Two term customer wamereject chakula yangu, kusema tu two term sasa ninateseka, na ata sikuwa na ubaya,” she said.
Translated into English, she was asking whether people in Kenya were no longer free to speak, saying she was now suffering after customers allegedly rejected her food for saying “two-term,” despite claiming she meant no harm.
The phrase “two-term” is associated with support for President Ruto serving two terms in office, a political position linked to his supporters and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
For the hotel owner, however, the controversy appears to have become a business problem, with the unsold food raising questions about how much money she could lose.
She did not want to be left wondering where to take the food as she faced the prospect of counting her losses.
It remains unclear how many customers rejected her food or whether the alleged boycott was directly linked to her political remarks.
