The UDA lawmaker sent a message of condolence to Senator Danson Mungatana and his family following the death of his eight-year-old daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana.
Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana and his wife, Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga, are mourning the death of their last-born daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana.
Amal, 8, died on Sunday, September 13, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
The family announced her death in a statement shared by the senator, describing the loss as a deeply painful moment for the family.
Amal had battled health complications from birth, with her parents seeking medical care for her both in Kenya and abroad over the years.
Despite her health struggles, the family remembered her for the joy, love and smiles she brought whenever she was well.
The family is currently gathered at their rural home in Ngao Village, Tana River County, as preparations for her final send-off get underway.
Amal will be laid to rest on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Ngao Village.
The death has drawn messages of condolence from Kenyans and leaders following the announcement of the eight-year-old’s passing.
Mungatana, who represents Tana River County in the Senate, and Chidzuga have asked for prayers as they come to terms with the loss of their youngest child.
The family concluded its announcement with a poignant message: “We loved her, but God loved her more.”
Amal was born in 2018 and was the couple’s fourth child. Her death brings to an end an eight-year journey marked by medical challenges and the family’s efforts to secure treatment for her.
