Two minors are among five people who died after an Easy Coach bus collided head-on with a private car at Kikopey along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway on Sunday night.
The crash happened at around 11pm as the bus was travelling from Gilgil towards Nakuru, according to police.
Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winston Mwakio confirmed the accident and said investigations had begun to establish what caused the collision.
Four of the victims were occupants of the private car, a Toyota IST. They included two female adults and two juveniles, who died at the scene.

The car’s driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Gilgil Hospital. He later died while receiving treatment, bringing the total number of fatalities to five.
Several passengers from the Easy Coach bus were also injured in the crash and taken to hospital for treatment.
The fatal collision has once again drawn attention to the Kikopey stretch of the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, where deadly crashes have occurred in recent years.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the latest crash.
