The child allegedly remained in the school staffroom after experiencing breathing difficulties before later noticing an unusual discharge after returning home.
A disturbing alleged defilement case involving a 10-year-old girl at a school in Gachui has been brought to the attention of Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, who has called for urgent investigations.
According to an account shared by Mosiria and attributed to the child and her family, the girl has a health condition that sometimes causes her to faint.
The child allegedly told Mosiria that on the day of the incident, at around 1pm, her teacher instructed her not to join other pupils during games time because of her condition.
She was reportedly left behind at the school so that, should she experience another episode, she would not be far from assistance.
According to the child’s account, the teacher later left her with another teacher before she developed breathing difficulties.
She was allegedly taken to the staffroom and placed on a mattress to rest.
What happened next is unclear.
The girl reportedly told Mosiria that the only thing she remembers is waking up and being asked by a teacher whether she was okay.
She was subsequently taken home.
It was after arriving home, according to her account, that she noticed her trousers were wet.
The child allegedly went to the bedroom to remove the trousers and noticed a clear, mucus-like substance.
She reportedly informed her grandmother, who then instructed her aunt to take her to hospital.
Mosiria has alleged that the family was informed after the medical examination that the substance was semen. That claim has not been independently verified by Nairobi Xclusive.
The girl’s mother also reportedly said that the child had been left in the staffroom with two teachers on the day in question.
Mosiria calls for CCTV footage to be protected
Following the allegations, Mosiria has called on the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Kabete to urgently follow up on the matter and pursue justice for the child.
He also called for the school’s CCTV footage to be secured and preserved, potentially providing investigators with crucial information about what happened during the period the child was reportedly alone in the staffroom.
The allegations have raised serious questions about what happened at the school and whether the circumstances surrounding the girl’s time in the staffroom can be established through CCTV footage, witness accounts and medical evidence.
At this stage, the allegations remain unproven, and it is not established who, if anyone, may have been responsible.
The identity of the 10-year-old girl has been withheld to protect her privacy.
Authorities are expected to establish what happened and determine whether any criminal offence was committed.
