Ex KDF Soldier tells Ruto to take a hard line against leaders accused of stealing public funds.
Former KDF soldier Patrick Osoi has challenged President William Ruto to execute leaders allegedly involved in the KSh 11 billion SHA scandal, saying Kenya cannot fight corruption without taking a hard line against those accused of stealing public money.
Osoi wants Ruto to prove his commitment to fighting corruption by taking drastic action against those implicated in the alleged theft, arguing that Kenya needs the same firm approach that helped Singapore develop.
“William Ruto, if you truly mean to take this country to Singapore’s level, hang and execute those who stole KSh 11 billion from the SHA,” Osoi said.
He further argued that leaders who steal from public coffers should face the harshest consequences, insisting that the country cannot move forward while public money is misused.
Osoi’s remarks put pressure on Ruto to demonstrate his anti-corruption stance as questions continue to surround the management of funds under the Social Health Authority.
However, the KSh 11 billion figure has been disputed. Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale previously clarified that it included claims flagged, rejected or left unpaid by SHA’s verification system, rather than money confirmed to have been stolen.
Osoi’s call has reignited debate over how far Kenya should go in punishing corruption and holding public officials accountable.
Osoi Declares 2027 Presidential Bid, Tells Sifuna to Give Him Space
Beyond his remarks on corruption, Osoi has also declared his intention to run for president in the 2027 General Election.
The former soldier also had a message for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, urging him to give way as he positioned himself among those seeking to lead Kenya.
“Sifuna, please allow us. It’s not time for politics; it’s time to rescue one nation,” Osoi said.
He argued that rescuing the country requires people with a background in uniformed service rather than politicians and professionals from other fields.
“When you want to rescue a nation, you cannot call a lawyer, doctor, accountant, or banker; you call people in uniform,” he added.
His remarks put his presidential ambitions alongside his call for tougher action against corruption, as political figures begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
