Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, including two ambulances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and a doctor. However, the medical team was unable to save the man’s life.
The wildlife park was evacuated following the incident, while police officers remained at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Authorities have not publicly established why the man entered the enclosure or the full sequence of events leading to the attack.
The man’s family has been informed of his death and is receiving support from specialist police officers.
Police Issue Warning Over Disturbing Videos
The incident has also drawn attention to footage circulating on social media that appears to show the man inside the enclosure shortly before and during the attack.
Police have urged members of the public not to share the videos, describing the footage as distressing.
The force also clarified that the tiger was not injured and remained inside its enclosure after the incident. There was no wider risk to members of the public, according to police.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park said its emergency response procedures were immediately activated and that it was working closely with authorities to establish exactly what happened.
The park, which opened in 2009, features a dedicated attraction known as Land of the Tigers, designed to house endangered Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers.
Investigations into the fatal incident are ongoing.
