A tanker exploded near Salgaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway late Monday night, sending a massive fireball into the air and leaving motorists caught in a frightening scene.
A video seen by Nairobi Xclusive shows the moment of the explosion, with the tanker bursting into flames along the busy highway.
The man who recorded the video said the explosion happened directly in front of his car.
According to the motorist, several other vehicles were following behind the tanker when the blast occurred, raising concerns that other road users may have been caught up in the incident.
The full extent of the damage was not immediately clear.
The number of fatalities and injuries has also not been confirmed.
The incident happened along one of the busiest sections of the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, where tanker and heavy-truck accidents have previously caused major tragedies.
